The Town of Surfside is a community that treasures its beaches and when driving through you can see people walking towards the ocean to enjoy a nice stroll on the warm sand or a quick swim in the ocean. Surfside real estate ranges from a quiet residential neighborhood which combines small and large scale homes to luxury oceanfront condos. Surfside is proud of its own “home town” shopping district as well as hotels, motels and resorts. Surfside is a small oceanfront town with a population of only about 5,000. Just nine blocks long and 10 blocks wide, the community sits amid Miami Beach and Bal Harbour, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Intracoastal Waterway. World-class shopping, parks, playgrounds, beaches and recreational facilities are within walking distance. Surfside is located near several cities, including Bay Harbor Islands and Bal Harbour, which are within walking distance; and North Bay Village, Biscayne Park, North Miami, Sunny Isles Beach, Miami Shores and Miami Beach, which are less than five miles away. One of the most popular spots in Surfside is its wide stretch of beach, which is fringed by a path that passes through the surrounding dunes. Renovated hotels and new condos give Collins Avenue a modern look, but Harding Avenue hasn’t changed much. It still boasts small shops, including an old-fashioned corner drugstore and soda fountain. Other community-type attractions include: An Oceanfront Community Center, where shows and events take place. The North Shore State Recreation Area, which provides a beachfront nature preserve and family-style picnic area. And the Surfside Community Center and Tot Lot, which has an Art deco-style outdoor stage with a small "Hollywood Bowl" structure for special shows and events.
Surfside was founded on 1935 and became incorporated through the signatures of a few people, members of a private club in town, “The Surf Club ". In the early 1960s, the community center was built on Collins and 93 Street. This facility offers a library, swimming pools, public beach access, bars, meeting rooms for special events, and opens to the public 7 days a week. The Town of Surfside is quiet, peaceful, and family oriented. Rejuvenated hotels and luxury condominiums are enlivening Collins Avenue with a contemporary beat. But just a few blocks inland 1940s and 1950s single-family homes line quiet streets, complementing the main-street-America feel of Harding Avenue with its many homegrown shops. Solid construction and manicured landscaping are a staple of each Surfside home.
